Nice place if you like old places

This place houses a great deal of local Roman history inside as well as outside in the groundsWell worth a visit.

Very interesting and worthwhile. I cannot believe I have not visited before. My one negative is more could be made of the importance of the Roman site and more could be done to bring it alive by use of multimedia. Eg there was only one small screen for 4 short videos with poor seating. Less could be made of the Senhouse family. That said I encourage everyone to go.

Excellent explanatory lay outs and plenty of hands on stuff for children made it an all round family experience. Seeing the potter at work and his demonstrations of Roman techniques were fascinating! He is an excellent teacher. The picnic area was a real sun trap and the views from the tower superb. There is only one minor complaint: there is much interesting material that deserves more viewing space and a reorganization of the rooms would be a bonus.
