A nice friendly pub and restaurant with a real homely feel. We ate here twice while in Maryport, the lunchtime meal was good, but the Sunday carvery was something else, possibly the best I've ever had. We had been pre-warned that the Sunday carvery was busy so we turned up when it opened at 12.00, there were a handful of people already inside, and within half an hour all the seats were taken in the large restaurant upstairs. Not sure if it gets quieter later, but if you want to eat at lunchtime, get there early.
Go there with a large appetite.....for 6.99 for a gorgeous home made Sunday lunch with a pudding if you can manage it!!! Choose of 5 meats...with all the beautiful vegetables and Yorkshire puds. If that wasn't enough you can also get homemade pie ,sausages and chicken in a gorgeous gravy.....all on the same plate!!!.....been many times but go early because you will be queuing it's that good.
Lovely food we had the sunday roast, filled us all. friendly staff both behind the bar and waiting tables. Service with a smile. Toilets were dated but clean. Proper pub
